Athenaeum hotel
The brand new Athenaeum Hotel is housed in a renovated, glass-fronted traditional building. The Athenaeum’s style, in its public areas, is inspired by the elements of contemporary design, while at the same time being intrinsically linked to Tuscan tradition. Examples include the precious marbles used as wall treatments and the fine leathers used in the furnishings. The hotel is also features a computerised lighting system which allows the management to change the colour tones according to the atmosphere they want create (in different season, different hours of the day or at special events). The guestrooms are tastefully decorated in a minimalist style. The bedspreads and the curtains are well co-ordinated in red tones and contrast with the cream colour scheme of the walls. The hotel’s “Riflessi” restaurant offers modern twists on traditional Tuscan favourites using only the highest-quality seasonal ingredients. The central attraction of the Athenaeum is, however, the Patio: a very large open air space with a terracotta pavement designed for guests’ cocktail and dining pleasure. In this area water is a dominating element as seen and heard from the waterfalls. The entire patio area is in a glass enclosure revealing the contemporary design of the building. The presence of many plants, as well as an arbor, create the effect of a green ceiling, making the patio of the Athenaeum an oasis in the heart of the bustling town.
