Astoria Hotel
The hotel can be found in the heart of Florence a few steps away from the Duomo and main railway station, Santa Maria Novella. It is perfectly located for easy access to all of the city’s major sights.

Astoria Hotel
The Astoria Boscolo Hotel is housed in a building that boasts typical Florentine architecture dating from the 16th century, with beautiful woodcarving, various flags flying outside and an imposing entrance. The large lobby features polished marble floors covered with ornate Persian rugs and several gold leaf chandeliers. There is a grand piano in the corner and a large variety of seating - from black leather sofas and armchairs to handmade wooden chairs with wicker backs. The spacious guestrooms contain blue fitted carpets, handmade walnut furniture and beige walls covered with unique frescoes, all of which combine to create a very traditional atmosphere. The hotel’s Palazzo Gaddi restaurant is located on the ground floor and serves regional and international cuisine. It also has a garden terrace, open for breakfast and dinner in the summer months. The Arrighetti Lounge Bar offers drinks in both the comfortable Baroque-style lobby and the rooftop terrace where the 360º view encompasses the whole of Florence, with rolling hills and cypress trees beyond.

Comment
For the price of the 4 days, we thought it was excellent value. The room was obviously not one of their best suites but it was clean, big and comfortable. Everywhere is within walking distance, even sights south of the river,so don't worry about taxis-get a good street map instead. This hotel 2 minutes walk from station and two minutes from Cathedral.
Top Tip
Also worth looking out small eateries where local food produced instead of big pizzaries in squares.
